I have devoted my professional life to advancing the missions, strategic goals and brands of organizations in education and healthcare, including Georgetown University, Providence College, the College of the Holy Cross, Phillips Exeter Academy, St. Paul’s School, the Brearley School, Mount Sinai Medical Center, and Weill Cornell Medical College.

Currently I serve at Emmanuel College as special assistant to the president for strategic communications. Throughout my tenure, I have engaged in projects related to strategic planning, fundraising, accreditation, student recruitment and retention, financial aid, branding and marketing, and COVID response, as well as a presidential search and transition. My engagement with the college’s Board of Trustees has provided an up-close and across-the-board window into the many issues confronting private institutions in today’s fast‐changing educational landscape.

Consistent with my background in branding and marketing, I have focused in a special way on redefining Emmanuel’s position in a competitive marketplace. In 2017, as acting director of marketing communications, I conceived and implemented Emmanuel’s “Be In Boston, Be Inspired, Be In Demand” value proposition/student‐recruitment campaign. The number of incoming first‐year students for Fall 2018 was the largest in the college’s history, and overall enrollment for Fall 2019 was the highest ever. Working with the Board of Trustees Development Committee, chaired by Hill Holliday co‐founder Jack Connors, I developed the brand of Emmanuel’s Campaign for Our Second Century and wrote and produced a campaign launch video, screened at a 400-guest gala in 2019.

Writing is the through-line of my career. At Emmanuel, I formulate and write a broad range of communications in the president’s voice, including speeches and messages to the College community on critical issues, from immigration to the death of George Floyd. My creative and editorial work exemplifies my ability to comprehend complex topics and distill them into clear, effective, and memorable prose and visuals. Early in my career, I served as associate editor of Georgetown Magazine, and in recent years have edited and creative-directed six issues of Emmanuel Magazine

In 2018 I joined the Advisory Board of Saint Paul’s Choir School in Harvard Square. Subsequently I developed the choir school’s “Educate & Elevate” marketing platform. In 2020, I created original messaging for a silent-phase case for support for an upcoming capital campaign for St. Paul’s Catholic Community.

I earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Georgetown University and taught English in China with a Jesuit-affiliated program in 1994-95. I live with my wife, Sarah, and two sons in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
